Furniture Maintenance
Furniture Maintenance Policy
At PARALLEL FURNITURE, our pieces are engineered to withstand the elements, but thoughtful care will ensure they remain a centerpiece of your outdoor oasis for a lifetime. Follow this guide to maintain the structural integrity and aesthetic beauty of your handcrafted rattan and rope furniture.
1. Synthetic Rattan & Rope Care
Our collections feature high-density, UV-stabilized synthetic fibers designed for maximum durability.
- Routine Maintenance: Use a soft-bristled brush or a microfiber cloth to remove dust and organic debris from the weave. Regular dusting prevents buildup in the intricate crevices of the fibers.
- Deep Cleaning: Prepare a solution of mild, pH-neutral soap and lukewarm water. Gently apply with a soft sponge, then rinse thoroughly with low-pressure water (standard garden hose).
- Chemical Safety: Avoid the use of bleach, ammonia, acid-based cleaners, or abrasive scouring pads. These substances can degrade the protective UV coating and compromise the fiber’s elasticity
2. Luxury Cushion & Fabric Care
Our high-performance fabrics are selected for their soft hand-feel and weather resistance
- Immediate Spill Response: Should a spill occur, blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub, as this forces the liquid deeper into the fabric fibers.
- Seasonal Storage: While our cushions are moisture-resistant, we recommend storing them in a dry, ventilated area during heavy rain or throughout the winter to prevent mold and mildew growth.
- Laundering Instructions: For removable covers, machine wash on a gentle cycle with cold water. To preserve the fabric’s shape and integrity, always air dry. Never use a tumble dryer or high heat.
3. Environmental Protection
While our “All-Weather” furniture is built for the outdoors, extreme conditions require proactive care:
- UV Management: Although our materials are UV-resistant, decadelong exposure to intense, direct sunlight can eventually lead to subtle fading. We recommend using breathable furniture covers when your pieces are not in use for extended periods.
- Thermal Safety: Synthetic rattan and rope are thermoplastic materials. Ensure a safe distance is maintained from high-heat sources, including fire pits, outdoor heaters, and open flames, to prevent melting or warping.
4. Professional Best Practices
- Hydraulic Warning: Never use a pressure washer. High-pressure water can displace handwoven fibers and weaken the tension of the weave.
- Structural Alignment: Always place your furniture on a level, stable surface. Uneven terrain can cause unnecessary structural strain on the internal frames over time.
- Glass Surfaces: (If applicable) Use coasters to prevent the “magnifying glass effect” where direct sunlight through glass can create concentrated heat spots on the rattan below.
